ssh permission denied (publickey)

Postby ov10fac » 2018/05/15 23:52:57

I am running a centos 7 server in a VM. Did the update and everything was running fine. Could ssh into the server no issues. Then I installed PLEX media server. First thing I noticed was I couldn't access the web site necessary to configure the plex server. So I tried to ssh to the server and received a "permission denied, please try again". Get that three times then get the normal, Permission denied (publickey, password). So I checked the server ssh_config file for PasswordAuthentication yes and uncommented that line. Still cannot log in with ssh and can't access the server with the web.

Deleted the known_host file and still cannot log in. A very strange situation.

I am beginning to think that PLEX may have some issues?

Any help appreciated.

OK, now I feel really dumb. The problem was a duplicate ip address. I have a raspberry pi running my surveillance system and I rarely do anything except check footage once in a while. Well, it was using the same IP as my plex server, hence the very strange issues.

So the problem is solved, guess I'll have to check ip addresses next time I add a server. ;)
