Chinese and Korean input method not working properly

Post by evantkh » 2018/06/04 21:36:12

It only works when the time if I add one or more Chinese or Korean input method in settings. It stops working after reboot, keep outputting English characters. After adding a Chinese or Korean input method, it works again temporary even for those that are already added before but stops working after another reboot.

Update: Seems to have the same issue on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.5.

I only use Asian input for Japanese, but what input method are you using? If using ibus, you might want to try fcitx. I've found it works very well for me.

Is it on the repo? I have no problem with ibus for Chinese input on RHEL 7.4 but stopped working since CentOS 7.5 and discovered the problem on RHEL 7.5 as well. No idea for the Korean one as it is installed by default. I just switched to CentOS recently.

Is fcitx on the repo? I don't want to install third-party things on the / mount point.

It should be, but maybe just in EPEL. I see fcitx-pinyin as an EPEL package. I don't see anything for Korean though. (I may simply not know the name).

EPEL is considered safe, but of course, this decision is up to you. https://wiki.centos.org/AdditionalResou ... positories under Community Approved Repositories.
