can't rearrange tasks at bottom in bottom taskbar

Post by xbatx » 2018/06/27 14:09:52

Using 7.5 64 bit. I went into gnome tweak tool at the bottom. I can't seem to find the sort order anywhere. For example when I open up a terminal or browser the order stays in the order of what was opened up. I would like to be able to switch these around. Is there a setting somewhere that I am missing?? Any help would be appreciated please. I spent 8 hours trying to figure this out. I tried searching google etc.. Maybe I am just searching for the incorrect words?

I suspect that order of start is by design.

as I mentioned above, this may not be 'adjustable'. In order for it to work, the Gnome programmers would have needed to write/debug the special code to enable such a function. It appears that code isn't written and therefore {here we are}. If that's the case, you're looking for answers that don't exist, hence the lack of help/replies. Some things are just what they are. I agree, it would be 'neat'.

I think Windows does that. Don't remember that in CentOs (or even Fedora), though my memory isn't great.

Sorry - my 2 cents, which is worth nothing. <wink>

Oh no your cool. nothing to worry about. I just want the truth. I get what your saying. What gets me is why they ever removed it then... Or is there something else out there and I am just searching for the incorrect info???

And one last thing. Its not so much Neat haha Its more along the lines I a just slighty more organized because I put stuff in rows group this and that over there. Its a big big big help when you can orangize stuff and does save time in the long run.. Maybe not unless I can some how put a tittle. I'm just trying to be more efficent in the long run and at the end of the day I could really use a extra 30 seconds minute etc.. Thats what I am shooting for. Thank you for your effort though.

Apologies - I didn't know you could ever do it in CentOS; my bad.

Edit:
"light-bulb" - Perhaps the function works in another desktop environment; I use the default Gnome so that my installations are pretty much 'standard' when I have trouble and have to ask for help. Any chance that 'back then' you were running another environment?

ha you know "BROKEN LIGHT BULB" haha because I feel stupid for saying this now.. Yes it was some different version of the gnome desktop I had before... haha man I feel really dumb. Yessss but you are so right it was some other version and not the default. Darn I do not remember which one it was. And sometimes trying to find the right one its like looking for a needle in a haystack. ha I can't believe I did that. I will may try to figure out which one I had. This going to take a bit to find a good correct working one.

Thanks again ha mark it solved. I feel so silly now.
