Keyring issues after update/reboot

I just updated my system, rebooted and logged in again.

I got a popup saying that "Current Password No Longer Matches Keyring". I haven't changed my password for quite a long time. We authenticate against NIS. I am using MATE from EPEL. I had noticed a couple of days ago that subversion-gnome was no longer providing my password to subversion commands.

I have tried all the passwords and passphrases that I think could possibly be applicable.

Is there any way to recover, or do I just delete the keyring directory and start again?

I ran into this issue while using our university's Linux computers. Turns out that you are supposed to enter your PREVIOUS password to that prompt to unlock the keyring.

I may have resolved it.

I took a recent backup of my keyrings directory and put that in place of the current one. I then started up a VNC session and I was able, after some time to unlock the keyring using my current password. I am quite sure that I entered my current password several times, so I don't know why it worked later.
