[SOLVED]should i need reinstall centos??

Post by zethro » 2018/08/26 00:06:43

A few days ago, power failure was occurred. whenever booting, my computer goes to emergency mode.

As noticed on error message, i tried a couple of recovery with the xfs_repair command.

However, there is no use of my efforts. Is there any other methods out of the malfunction in this state? What if there is?

please, refer to the below message

Code: Select all

If you did run 'xfs_repair' and still getting this warning, you should consider recreating the file system and restore all data on the new XFS.

What commands have you run to try to repair the XFS ? If the issue is with the 'root' FS -> you need to use a live media to repair from there.

what command i used is

Code: Select all

umount dev/sdb*
xfs_repair -n /dev/sdb
then what is 'root' FS ? and live media...?? The xfs_repair command works with emergency mode, i think.

The -n switch to xfs_repair says "just tell me what is wrong but do not fix it". If that's all you ran then it did nothing.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

If you had to repair the system's ( in your case /dev/sdaX partition you have 2 options -> use a CentOS7 media to boot and repair or use a specific switch from 'xfs_repair'.

As you repair the 'sdb' device - the previous is not the case. As Trevor mentioned, you did nothing on the FS ('-n' is just a check but does nothing). Repeat the same steps but this time do not use the '-n' switch.

Find the label or uuid of /dev/sda and use that in '/etc/fstab', /dev/sda is volatile name.
When you rebooot today's sda might be sdd after that.
You can also use /dev/disk/by-id/scsi-XXXXX entry that is linked to sda and this scsi-XXXX will be persistent across reboots.

thanks to hunter86_bg a lot!!! :D :D
I fixed the problem completely to change the disk uuid from /dev/sda on /etc/fstab.
