Why CentOS removed Xen Project?
Re: Why CentOS removed Xen Project?
That is true, it needs to be installed after initial installation if desired.

No. CentOS is FLOSS. It gives software freedom.
Monopolization exists in some other dark places.
I'm not a complete idiot. There's still a few pieces missing.

Actually , I'm pretty sure you can define what to be installed during initial setup.
Also, a kickstart file can provide XEN on install..
Still, the CentOS project offers what Red Hat provide but with some extras.
If you wish XEN to be easily installable, you can always fork the project and call it XenOS if you wish.

Re: Why CentOS removed Xen Project?
Once you see the "Reboot" button, you can switch to another terminal (Ctrl + Alt + F2 ,for example) then:
1. Chroot in /mnt/sysimage
2. Install the xen as per the wiki ( I have noticed that the url of the repo is wrong , so just adjust it by replacng xen-46 with xen-108 or whatever is available in the mirrors)
3. You might consider updating at that point
4. Switch to GUI (Ctrl + Alt + F6) or just stick with the cli and reboot
As I haven't installed Xen since RHEL/CentOS 5 - I am not sure of the specifics.
Of course , this can be avoided by using a kickstart file with the necessary entries.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

If CentOS like other Linux Distro, add an option to select which Hypervisor to install, then it is better.

Re: Why CentOS removed Xen Project?
Sadly the idea is to have a free version of RHEL and most of the extras (like XEN) are done by volunteers skilled enough to do it.
If you can modify it in such way to provide reliable XEN installation, then provide the details and files needed - and I'm sure it will be merged in the installation media.

Re: Why CentOS removed Xen Project?
I really doubt if that would happen.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.
