can't save IP addresses settings

hello and good day,

i tried to change settings for BOOTPROTO=none into Static then i also try to add NETMASK=255.255.0.0 but to no avail :(


i'm bothered if i saved my settings or not as everytime i go to that network-settings it's the same or nothing change :?

BOOTPROTO=none is the same thing as static. In fact the only thing that's checked for is "dhcp", everything else means static.

NETMASK=255.255.0.0 means the same thing as PREFIX=16
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.
Info for USB installs on http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/InstallFromUSBkey
CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
