Acrobat reader on linux has been dead for about 5 years. It shouldn't be used as Adobe haven't patched it for any security problems since then. There are lots of opensource pdf readers - we supply atril, qpdf, xpdf among others.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.

Nothing in that IBM article will help to fix unpatched security problems in a > 5 year old software package.

<Ahem> Trevor ;)
Thanks for the suggestion/s.
Actually, the version of Xpdf available from the centos epel repo is also ancient, version 3.04 circa 2014.
Probably should be updated sometime to Xpdf version 4.x
I'm not a complete idiot. There's still a few pieces missing.
