I made that as my desktop background in gnome.
When I remote in via vnc, if I type only vncserver then the color depth I think defaults to 8... whatever it's really grainy and ugly.
The partial solution is to do vncserver -screen scrn 1920x1200x32. And this is with tigervnc-server
I think this is no different than multiple arguments of -geometry 1920x1200 and -depth 32 ?
So if my background is the Win7-Red-1920x1200.jpg image, upon first log in via vnc it is still grainy.
However if I simply right click Change Background and reapply the pic then it's nice and crisp with 32 bit color depth as the desktop background displayed through vnc.
Is this a bug with gnome? Is there some setting in gnome to make the grainy 8 bit image not come through on first vnc connection?

VNC parameters:
Parameters can be turned on with -<param> or off with -<param>=0
Parameters which take a value can be specified as -<param> <value>
Other valid forms are <param>=<value> -<param>=<value> --<param>=<value>
Parameter names are case-insensitive. The parameters are:
Global Parameters:
ZlibLevel - Zlib compression level (default=-1)
ImprovedHextile - Use improved compression algorithm for Hextile encoding
which achieves better compression ratios by the cost of
using more CPU time (default=1)
pam_service - Alias for PAMService
PAMService - Service name for PAM password validation (default=vnc)
PlainUsers - Users permitted to access via Plain security type (including
TLSPlain, X509Plain etc.) (default=)
GnuTLSPriority - GnuTLS priority string that controls the TLS session’s
handshake algorithms (default=NORMAL)
MaxCutText - Maximum permitted length of an incoming clipboard update
(default=262144)
RemapKeys - Comma-separated list of incoming keysyms to remap. Mappings
are expressed as two hex values, prefixed by 0x, and
separated by -> (default=)

black-listed. The host cannot re-attempt a connection until
the timeout expires. (default=10)
