I know for a fact that i3 is available on the epel repo. I know this because my work colleague is using it on his CentOS7 box and this post here mentions how to install it.
That being said,is i3-gaps available? It's a fork of i3, but on the i3-gaps installation wiki it doesn't mention any yum repository.
