Change ownership of the directory under shared folder

Post by sureshmidde » 2019/08/23 16:25:04

Hi ,

I have recently started installing Cent OS 7 under Oracle Virtual box. I have installed Guest Additions and currently able to access the shared folder inside Cent OS.

I have a user 'smidde' added to vboxsf group.

[root@localhost sf_Share-VM]# ls -ltr
total 1173740
-rwxrwx---. 1 root vboxsf 1201909760 Aug 15 12:11 devtoolkit_docker.tar
drwxrwx---. 1 root vboxsf 0 Aug 22 18:32 devtoolkit_docker
drwxrwx---. 1 root vboxsf 0 Aug 23 16:13 Test

Now, I want to change the ownership of 'Test" folder to smidde:docker . However it is not happening.

[root@localhost sf_Share-VM]# chown -R smidde:docker Test/
[root@localhost sf_Share-VM]# ls -ltr
total 1173740
-rwxrwx---. 1 root vboxsf 1201909760 Aug 15 12:11 devtoolkit_docker.tar
drwxrwx---. 1 root vboxsf 0 Aug 22 18:32 devtoolkit_docker
drwxrwx---. 1 root vboxsf 0 Aug 23 16:13 Test

Can you please help me in getting the folder permissions changed to smidde:docker ?

Regards

I'd suggest asking on a virtualbox forum as the shared folder functionality is theirs.
CentOS 5 died in March 2017 - migrate NOW!
CentOS 6 goes EOL sooner rather than later, get upgrading!
