By default the root partition is too small for my purposes(1.4gb). There are 27gb of unallocated space on the sd card. How do I expand the root partition to use this unallocated space (a reinstall is fine if necessary)?

@Michael,
I did that on a desktop computer, using GParted (a graphical utility for managing disk partitions). I put the uSD card in the desktop computer and run GParted. You have to resize the partition where root is located, in my case that is on /dev/mmcblk0p3. After that is finished put the uSD card in your pi and you will see that root partition has grown.
Maybe this also can be done on commandline, but for me this was the easiest way.

I forgot to look on this experimental PI4 image (do not forget this..);
Usually there are some hints at

Code: Select all

Thanks for your replies. I went with looking at the instructions in the /root/README

Worked fine.
