Ok so I managed to install the system. Also installed the kmod-cciss rpm from elrepo. But the server still doesn't boot, I always have to provide the hpsa.hpsa_longstorytoomuchtowriteeachtime, what else do I need to do?

Also is there any way to disable the Gnome effects? I always like to have a GUI till I setup the server, but it's sluggish as hell :D ATI ES1000 lol It was the same in Gnome 2 with those HP servers. Does xfce work ok with these cards?

Be aware that hpsa calls its devices /dev/sdX and cciss calls them /dev/cciss/c0dX so you will need to adjust fstab and grub and anything else that refers to device names.

I've never tried it so I cannot tell you. I do have G5 machines but they will only ever run CentOS 6 or 5 and by the time el6 goes EOL it'll be 2020 and they'll be past their retirement age.

It was my first option also, for the same (rational) reasons, but CentOS 7 has so many goodies, I just can't install an older OS when I am installing :) And I rather have upstream supported Apache 2.4, Mariadb 5.5, php 5.4 and stuff.

Are there any other users that might share their experience? I have 2 x DL385 G5p and 3 x DL360 G5. More interested in 385, as the others are running pfsense just fine.

* Newbie alert * :o :mrgreen:

Have just bought a DL380 G5 with dual E5430 & 16G

Am having the CentOS 7 blues :( :cry: :evil: :twisted: :| with the hard drives as well. Have just installed an old laptop 2.5 SATA in slot 1 and had Fedora 16 Live on it for a bit with no problems but CentOS 7 won't see the drive.

From what I have seen on here, I'm best to get CentOS 6 for the time being and work from there?

Cheers
Mike

P.S. This is being sent from Tequila running the CentOS 7 Live CD :D

P.P.S The server is called Tequila (because beer isn't fast enough.....) :lol:

Hello,

I found the solution to install Centos 7 adding "hpsa.hpsa_simple_mode=1 hpsa.hpsa_allow_any=1" in command line to find the SmartArray E200i card on my Old HP server.
But no way to boot after installation, can someone help me ?

Thank you
