Realtek SD Card Reader RTS5227
Re: Realtek SD Card Reader RTS5227
I don't have that card reader so I cannot see what else needs to be loaded from that POV but my mmc slot does work and my machine has mmc_core, sdhci, sdhci_pci, sd_mod and sg loaded. I don't see any other modules that look like they might be involved. Are those all listed in lsmod?
I see on my machine that /dev/mmcblk0 is only created when there is a card in the slot.

The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

Re: Realtek SD Card Reader RTS5227
The following modules are listed with lsmod "mmc_core, rtsx_pci, rtsx_pci_sdmmc, sg, rtsx_pci_ms".
The two modules "sdhci" and "sdhci_pci" are missing, could this be the problem?

Re: Realtek SD Card Reader RTS5227
No idea, try modprobe'ing them and see if it helps.

Re: Realtek SD Card Reader RTS5227
found a "working" module with other distri live cd.
i used "mmc_block", now there is something in messages while inserting a card.
any ideas for the new failure?

No, sorry, rings no bells here.

Please show just the relevant lines for the device as output by --
lspci -nn
I would like to see the device's Vendor:Device ID pairing.

Hi, thanks for your reply. Found the "solution/problem" a few seconds ago.
Updating to 3.17.4-2.el7.elrepo.x86_64 fixed the problem for me at the moment.
The line you wanted..
I need to use the kernel 3.10 for other applications, so let me know any solutions.
Thx

Re: Realtek SD Card Reader RTS5227
You have pre-empted what would have been my suggestion, once I had sight of the device's Vendor:Device ID pairing!
Using the "double grep" technique, I see --
If you intend to continue to use the kernel-ml package, I would advise that you --
(1) edit the /etc/sysconfig/kernel file so that its last line reads DEFAULTKERNEL=kernel-ml
(2) subscrube to the ELRepo Users' mailing list (a low traffic list) so that you receive notifications of each new kernel release

The output is...
when using the new kernel-ml, i'll run into new problems, like compiling virtualbox modules etc.
so i will try to fix the problem with the kernel delivered with centos first.
or you can tell me the location of kernel-ml-headers, there is nothing in /usr/src/kernel
