Qualcomm Gobi 2000 not working, Thinkpad X201

Post by calabash » 2015/01/15 10:52:13

Hi to all,

I did a clean new installation and everything worked out the box, except the Qualcomm Gobi 2000 3G MiniPCI Express.

I followed the installation guide from http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Qualcomm_Gobi_2000

The output from lsusb shows that the firmware is loaded successfully and that the modem is exposed over USB as id 05c6:9205.

Bus 001 Device 005: ID 17ef:4816 Lenovo Integrated Webcam
Bus 002 Device 005: ID 05c6:9205 Qualcomm, Inc.
Through the installation of TLP i can switch between the status of the modem and the wan-symbol, light indication on the TFT, is switching accordingly.

Unfortunately the output from nmcli dev shows

Code: Select all

[root@localhost ~]# nmcli dev

Additionally the NetworkManager applet shows no possibility to enable a Mobile Broadband Connection.

The 3G Modem is working normally under Debian and Windows 7, so there is no hardware defect.

In the meanwhile i have installed fedora 21.

If a run the installation process as described above, the mobile broadband connection is detected and listed in the networkmanager applet.

So this should run in Centos too?

link, this was working in c7, a friend of my tried.

I think you should ask the elrepos to provide a package.

@vladi: thank you for your answer

Finally it is detected via the Networkmanager.
