I just bought TP-Link Wireless N Nano USB Adapter TL-WN725N today.
After using lsusb, it said:
"Bus 001 Device 004 : ID 0bds:8179 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTL8188EUS 802.11n Wireless Network Adapter"

Can you please teach me to install the driver step by step?

Thank you in advance.

Everything you need to know is in this thread already.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

I'm having the same problem downloading rtl8187se.ko / Centos 7

Code: Select all

rpm --import https://www.elrepo.org/RPM-GPG-KEY-elrepo.org
rpm -Uvh https://www.elrepo.org/elrepo-release-7.0-3.el7.elrepo.noarch.rpm
yum install rtl8187se
Error "No package rtl8187se available"

Am I able to just download the RPM and perform a

Code: Select all

yum localinstall

The package name is kmod-rtl8187se. However it is available only for el6, not for el7.

Does this mean the card will not work under Centos 7?

Please see attached picture.
I've installed elrepo-release-7.0-3.el7.elrepo.noarch.rpm
and kmod-8188eu-4.1.4_6773.20130222-5.el7_6.elrepo.x86_64.rpm

CentOS 7.6-1810 Desktop still can't find USB Wi-Fi adapter.

What should I do next?

As root, run lsmod | grep 8188 - does that list anything? If not, again as root, run modprobe 8188eu then repeat the lsmod from before - does it show 8188eu now? If it doesn't then check in /var/log/messages for errors. If it does then check to see if the adapter is showing up now.

Please see attached screenshot.
It shows "8188eu 772812 0", but such adapter does not show up.
