[CLOSED] - No MORE than 4 monitors with Nvidia NVS* videocards

Post by warron.french » 2016/11/09 07:30:37

Hello all, I have been working with RHEL7 machines, and any combination of the following video cards:
1. 2 NVS-510 video cards in the same Dell chassis
2. 1 NVS-510 + 1 NVS-810 video cards in the same Dell chassis
3. a single (1) NVS-810 video card in the same Dell chassis

No matter what, I can get up to and including 4 (in other words >=3 monitors) Dell monitors of various sizes to configure exactly as I want them; however, as soon as I add another monitor connection (which will terminate in a miniDP) to the existing already 4 properly functioning monitors... here's what I experience... if I decide to make a total of 5 (or 6, 7, or 8 connections):

A. One of the existing monitors goes black, and one of the 4 newly attached monitors illuminates and functions (not necessarily the way I want it, but the desktop shows up on it).
B. All of the original 4 monitors remain properly lit/connected but the extra monitors in excess of the specific quantity of 4 remain black/off.

This is not the goal at all.

I need to be able to connect to 2 NVS-510s, or 1 NVS-510 and 1 NVS-810, or a single NVS-810 with more than 4 monitors (I will definitely be doing up to 8).

Help!

Using the NVIDIA drivers at revision 375.26 or greater seemed to help this.

Now we have other problems. :o
