Centos Does Not See Keyboard on Install

Post by flyerfocus » 2017/06/24 02:07:59

I'm trying to install on a Thinkserver TS140. When I boot from the DVD and get the initial prompt to hit <ENTER> to install, nothing happens. I go into the BIOS and I can move around in there and use the enter key just fine so it's not the hardware. I have the BIOS set to "USB Legacy Support = Enabled." Any idea what I can do to get the keyboard recognized by the installer?

What sort of processor does this machine have?
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.

Lenovo ThinkServer TS140 Tower Server System Intel Core i3-4130 3.4 GHz 4GB DDR3-1600 / PC3-12800 70A4000HUX

I did have an older version of Centos 7 running on it already. I put that on in 2014 and it installed fine. I can't find that DVD though. I did find an old Centos 6.5 DVD and the installer sees the keyboard on that just fine. The .iso image I downloaded Friday will not recognise the keyboard.

Well, it's not the problem I thought it might be as that only affects AMD machines. Have you tried different usb ports? A different keyboard?

I'd recommend reading the boot messages but that means you need a keyboard to be able to navigate through them and also to see them.

I have tried all the USB ports and I have tried another keyboard. Same result.

Both keyboards work fine on other boxes. I can navigate around the BIOS just fine with both keyboards, and I like said, when I boot from a CentOS 6.5 install DVD, the 6.5 sees the keyboard just fine. I am in the process of packing to move otherwise I'd get out the older CentOS DVD I had but that's in storage in the bottom of a box somewhere. Anyone know if there a trove of older CentOS 7 distros anywhere I can download from?

Anyone know where older distros of 7 are located? I really need to get this machine up. Thanks.
