Dell Inspiron 15 5559 Fan not working (over heating)

Post by Maxxquoi » 2017/07/14 23:49:02

I just install Centos 7 on my Dell Inspiron laptop, but my laptop turnoff (or shutdown) every time after a few minutes of listening to music (spotify) or watching video (youtube or other video site) online. After installing lm_sensors and i8kutils, I notice that the laptop fan was not working. I have try to control the fan with i8kutils but it is not working, fancontrol script is not working and pwnconfig script is not working too. I also install intel thermald-deamon and tlp. As you can see have look for solution to get the fan to work but it is still not working, I have been working on this for two week now so any help will be appreciated.

LAPTOP SPECS:
Dell Inspiron 15 5559
CPU: Intel Core i7-6500U
Graphic Processor: Intel HD Graphics 520
Discrete Graphic: AMD Radeon R5 M335

To rule out hardware issues, have you tried with another Distro? Ubuntu and Fedora have live CDs.

yeah, I try fedora and the fan work perfectly, so i don't think it's hardware issues.
