Post by ghartl3 » 2017/07/22 23:17:13

hi,
use centos7 with kde. and in cups (localhost:631) there is no usb to select.
its an lexmark Ms510dn per usb cable connected to my box.
surely the printer is attached to usb and is in operation.
this is the dialogue in cups...no usb

meanwhile i cant find a printericon in my settings...? hmm.

i downloaded also some ppd files from the lexmark site...but to no avail.

any ideas where to start ?

Check in /var/log/messages for errors or info. Try a different USB socket and/or cable.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.
Info for USB installs on http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/InstallFromUSBkey
CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
Use the FAQ Luke

sorry..a little embarassing

i did the plug in the wrong socket (ethernet...) yes its dark behind..

so with the correct usb port the printer is already running.

thanks anyway for your time
