Can ASUS Z370-P DVIHDMI ports be utilised under CentOS 7?

Post by rbarakjsonar » 2018/04/20 17:55:06

I have several machines with ASUS Prime Z370-P motherboards, and under CenOS/RHEL 7, none of them are able to send DVI/HDMI output from the onboard DVI/HDMI ports.

I upgraded the BIOS to latest.

Is there a video driver/patch that will enable me to utilise the ASUS Prime Z370-P motherboard's DVI/HDMI ports under CentOS 7?

If it doesn't work with 7.4 then perhaps enable the CR repo and try again in a few days when what will become 7.5 is released into CR (it's empty at the moment but in progress).
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.

As you recall, machines utilising the Asus Prime Z370-P motherboard, couldn’t make the onboard DVI/HDMI ports function - necessitating usage of a video card.

I solved the issue by using a new kernel:

Code: Select all

sudo yum install elrepo-release
sudo yum —enablerepo=elrepo-kernel install kernel-ml
Now the DVI/HDMI are working from the motherboard ports.
