CentOS on NUC. Does it work?

Post by Warren_Linux » 2018/12/23 17:39:10

Hi.

I want to know if CentOS will work on a basic NUC-type PC such as the Gigabyte GB-BXCEH-2955, NUC Celeron 3050 or something more the more recent Brix GB-BXBT-1900? I need to get a basic installation running so I can test VM's and such remotely for a Linux Admin course.

I have a Raspberry Pi3 but I'm sure that would be too weak for the job.

Cheers.

I've had C6 and then C7 running on a BRIX for a couple of years. When first bought C7 wouldn't boot, but since 7.5 all seems fine. I run MATE, its nicer than GNOME3 and seems to be a bit lighter on the system.

# inxi
CPU: Dual Core Intel Celeron N2807 (-MCP-) speed/min/max: 500/500/2166 MHz Kernel: 3.10.0-957.1.3.el7.x86_64 x86_64

You may think the storage usage is a bit low, I mount a remote /home partition to ensure a network-wide common view for the family.

Thanks Martin.

I'll pick up a 2nd hand Brix ASAP.

Merry Christmas.
