Hello there, I am currently planning to install CentOS 7.3 onto a new laptop, Lenovo Y530 to run my video management software actually.
I am very concern if the drivers will be affected, especially the network cards.
On the https://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Laptops/, I do not see the laptop there but if any other users can validate for me, that would be great!
Thank you in advance
Lenovo Y530
Re: Lenovo Y530
Don't use 7.3 - it's 3 years old. Current version is 7.6 and is the only supported version.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

Re: Lenovo Y530
I understand your point but will the 7.3 version run fine on the Y530 Lenovo laptop?
Or are you saying that only 7.6 version will run fine with the Y530?
Currently my software runs stable on 7.3.
Hope you may shed some light on 7.3 with the Lenovo Y530

Re: Lenovo Y530
I'm saying that running 7.3 is dumb. Don't do it. It has 3 years worth of high severity security vulnerabilities present in it. It's like running unpatched Windows XP.

Re: Lenovo Y530
Since you PM'ed me to ask exactly the same question:
Just use 7.6 and regularly run yum update so that you stay up to date.
Only 7.6 is supported. 7.3 is over 3 years out of date and has numerous high severity security vulnerabilities. It is not safe to run unless you are operating in a closed environment and you never plug a network cable into it - and even then it probably still has local exploits present. In addition, new hardware support is added at each point release.I understand your point but will the 7.3 version run fine on the Y530 Lenovo laptop?
