Sound issue

Post by Lazlow » 2019/09/19 07:04:48

I have a Lenovo Xeon that I have used for a few years as a desktop. It outputs display port. The monitor I use is DVI. I have used a display port to DVI cord up till now. I use headphones. I threw a raspberry pi4 into the mix so I added a HDMI to DVI adapter and on the Lenovo a display port to HDMI. The video works without issue but the sound is non functional. I know what is going on but not how to fix it. It is sending the sound out through the HDMI/display port and shut of the analogue headphone output. On VLC I can select the analog out put and it works fine, but on youtube or other stuff it does not.
"$ aplay -l

I assume the cure is to add a line to the /etc/modporbe.d/alsa.conf but no idea what I need to add. Thanks

Hello
I have a keyboard shortcut for hdmi

Code: Select all

pactl set-card-profile 0 output:hdmi-stereo+input:analog-stereo
and to set it back

Code: Select all

pactl set-card-profile 0 output:analog-stereo+input:analog-stereo
To list your sound card/s and the possible outputs

Code: Select all

pacmd list-cards
and pactl commands

Code: Select all

pactl --help
Or there's a gui, pavucontrol-qt from epel and pavucontrol from nux
