updated kernel breaks qlaxxx attached devices

we have many servers with external storage attached to QLogic HBAs.

We can "see" and mount these volumes with no issues on kernel-3.10.0-957.21.3.el7.x86_64 -- but on kernel-3.10.0-1062.1.2.el7.x86_64 and kernel-3.10.0-1062.4.1.el7.x86_64 we cannot. They simply don't get discovered when the qla2xxx driver is loaded into the kernel.

Has something changed in the way recent kernel releases probe for devices via the qla2xxx driver(s)?
