Goodmorning everyone,
I installed a server with Centos latest version 7.4.1708 when I try to access this server from clients with Windows XP I open the directory with shared folder but if I try to open the shared folder it refuses my login by continuously requesting username and password , despite being correct. With Windos 7 and 10 clients I have no problems. Would anyone suggest a solution?
Thank you!

Re: Windows XP clients do not access a shared folder
I assume Windows XP is only capable of SMB1, not SMB2.

Re: Windows XP clients do not access a shared folder
I experienced the same problem after updating to 7.4. Adding
to the global section of smb.conf got it working again for me.
According to the man page for smb.conf, the default for this setting changed from "yes" to "no" with Samba 4.5.
Code: Select all
ntlm auth = yes
According to the man page for smb.conf, the default for this setting changed from "yes" to "no" with Samba 4.5.
Re: Windows XP clients do not access a shared folder
centor's solution worked fine with my Windows 7 client as well.

Windows XP? It's been End of Life for 6 years! Why do people run insecure stuff and put the rest of us at risk?
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.
