I've got a server with Centos 7 that I use for Plex and some Windows VM's with VirtualBox. I have a Windows 2012R2 server that I use for DHCP and DNS services. The Centos box get an IP from Windows, but the Centos box hostname isn't being picked up by the Windows DNS service. I've tried disabling SELinux, the firewall and nothing seems to work. I can ping it using the IP from other computers on my network, but can't ping using the hostname for it.
Any suggestions?? I'm out of ideas here...
Strange DNS issue
Re: Strange DNS issue
Try specifying DHCP_HOSTNAME= in /etc/sysconfig/network
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.
