Network "OFF" on login

Post by spamnchips » 2015/01/25 13:42:09

Hi,
I am new to CentOS 7 and an trying to get used to the way it works. I am running the system as a virtual machine inside Vmware Workstation 11. Whenever I activate the virtual machine it loads up OK but the wired network connection is always "OFF" and has to be manually switched to "ON" before I can use the internet facilities. Is this a feature of CentOS or can the connection be set to "ON" in some way ?

Thanks in anticipation
John

Yes. It's part of the FAQ. Check bullet point #2 http://wiki.centos.org/FAQ/CentOS7
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.
Info for USB installs on http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/InstallFromUSBkey
CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
