Dynamic updates in DNS from DHCP

Post by Empire_Wesley » 2015/07/06 16:20:49

Hello,

I have been using a CENTOS server I've setup with webmin access to manage a DHCP/DNS server for my local network. I have tried to setup dynamic dns updating via dhcp but it is not updating dns with the static hosts or the leases. I've attached my global client settings and also the host details of one static set host. The host is SpeqtrumAP, so my goal at the end of this would be to ping SpeqtrumAP and have it return the IP address. Also, to let all DHCP clients and hosts update in DNS. That would be great!

Thanks in advance!

To have DHCP update a DNS server you must enable updating using keys on the DNS server side and provide the key to the DHCP server.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
