interface name was changed after reboot

Post by yuwei.wang » 2018/05/15 08:56:39

Hi, all:

my vm which has three interfaces. eth0, eth1, eth2.

I detached eth0 interface and delete ifcfg-eth0 when vm is running. After task successed, then I can see eth1 and eth2 interface. But After reboot,
origin eth1 become eth0, origin eth2 become eth1 now. And eth0 ip doesn't have ip, eth1 ip is not currect.

Yep, that's the way it works if you use the old style interface naming convention. You would also need to rename all the ifcfg-eth* files and amend the DEVICE= and NAME= lines in each of them.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.
