Intel 8260 - Wi-Fi Not Found

Post by cklr » 2018/05/21 19:26:32

I have Centos 7 configure on an Intel machine with the Intel Dual-Band Wireless AC 8260.
When I go into Settings -> Wireless, the following message is displayed:

No Wi-Fi Adapter Found
Make sure you have a wireless adpater plugged and turned on.

When I go to check the driver using lspci -nnk I get:

01:00.0 Network controller [0280]: Intel Corporation Wireless 8260 [8086:24f3] (rev 3a)
Subsystem: Intel Corporation Device [8086:0850]
Kernel driver in use: iwlwifi
Kernel modules: iwlwifi

uname -r -> 3.10.0-862.2.3.el7.x86_64

ls -all /lib/firmware/iwlwifi-8* ->
-rw-r--r--. 1 root root 1745176 May 21 14:55 /lib/firmware/iwlwifi-8000C-13.ucode

I recently tried to update the *-13 driver in an attempt to get the wifi working.

When I go into Settings -> Network there are entries for the ethernet connections, but none for wireless.

What do I need to do to get the WIFI working ?

What do you see from dmesg | grep -i iwl ?
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.

And the output from ifconfig -a (if net-tools is installed) or ip link show if it isn't.
