Centos 7 DNS Connection

Post by xstitchx » 2019/01/02 05:47:30

I have 2 Servers and the OS is Centos 7.
Server 1 is connecting to the DNS Server
Server 2 is not

I have a server where hundreds of PC/Laptops are connecting on that server, which is Server 1. The network set up of the server is connecting on one of the DNS Server.Then one day that DNS Server was shut down, now the PC/Laptops units hangs when they are trying to connect to the Centos server. But when we up the DNS Server, the connection is now back to normal.

I've tried changing the DNS of the Centos Server but when they are trying to connect, the hang still exists.

Now I have another Centos 7 Server which has no set up for DNS. When we tried to connect to that server, we did not encounter any issue.

My question is
1. Even if we changed the DNS of Server 1, why the issue still exists?
2. Why is it when we tried to connect to the Server 2, we did not encounter any issue

Hoping for response. Thank you.

Based on the information in your question the answer is: Yes

You have to clarify:
* "DNS server"
* "connect to the DNS Server"
* "set up for DNS"
* "PC/Laptops connect on server"
* do all machines have public addresses&names

Hi,
You have to clarify:
* "DNS server"
-another machine, a separate machine

* "connect to the DNS Server"
-the Server 1 is connecting to a DNS Server which is a separate machine

* "set up for DNS"
-please correct me if I'm wrong, but if you are pertaining to this:
"Now I have another Centos 7 Server which has no set up for DNS", what i mean is the other server is not connecting to any DNS server,

* "PC/Laptops connect on server"
* do all machines have public addresses&names
- yes a lot of pc/laptops connects to the server, the server 1 gets the only IP and MAC Address of the machine that connects to the server 1.

Still need clarification.

You're trying to connect with a (your) server that also runs the DNS service? DNS is a service that translates 'names for humans' into the IP addresses that netwroks and the Internet actually use, briefly put.

If this is a DNS problem, that's one thing. A connection problem is another. What are you trying to do (actual code examples would help). What exactly is not working for you?
