When I look at the network map on my router I notice than my Fedora 29 systems, Win10, Phone, IoT devices all appear by name but all of my CentOS7 machines appear by IP address only. How do I make the CentOS7 system's hostnames discoverable?
BTW it's my routers that don't see the hostnames, nmap sees them fine.
How do I make the hostname discoverable?
Re: How do I make the hostname discoverable?
Never mind. It's SAMBA that makes the difference. The Fedora boxes had SAMBA on them, the CentOS7 boxes didn't. When I installed SAMBA the hostname showed up in the router's network map.
