Post by peopleinside » 2017/10/13 12:30:16

Hi to all,

Security is something very important to me!
I do my best for discover and report any security issue.

Now I have a VPS and I have CentOS Linux release 7.3
recently I see some security issue has been discover on Linux. Is my version affected?

There is a way to fix the security issue without upgrade to Centos 7.4 who can be not already supported by my VPS control Panel?
I see also user can have some issue by upgrading from 7.3 to 7.4, my VPS is not a test VPS.

What you suggest to do?
Thanks.

I think Centos should have security fix always sent in automatic...
or user should decide to not upgrade to all new feature but only implement security fix with an update only essential fix... because update to the latest Centos version can create many issue ... incompatibility with panel, software ecc.

Now how I can be safe on my Centos Version?
Thanks :D

Once a new point release comes out, there are no more updates released for the previous point release. Since 7.4 came out at the start of August for RHEL, there are no more updates for CentOS 7.3 and 7.4 is the update. It's just a yum update to get there, exactly the same as all other patches, just a bit bigger than normal.

We don't support any panel software at all.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
