Centos without firewall - safe?

Post by mahesh2150 » 2017/10/24 07:07:51

A system admin worked with me to move my sql server to remote.
Remote mysql is now running without any firewall. Only Mariadb is installed.

Is this safe?

No.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.

In corporate environments where Hardware-based Firewalls defent the DMZ - most of the time the servers do not have a running firewall.
What is the output of:

Code: Select all

systemctl status iptables ip6tables ebtables firewalld

It's not safe to run your SystemD exposed to the Internet without a firewall.
