Automatic Updates

Hello!

Might anyone here know how to configure automatic updates in CentOS 8?

In CentOS 7, this would be done by installing the yum-cron package, and configuring automatic updates via the file, /etc/yum/yum-cron.conf, then start and enable the yum-cron systemd unit.

There is no such package as yum-cron in the CentOS 8 repositories, as far as I can tell. I've also searched the repositories for similar packages like dnf-automatic -- no dice. I was not able to find the way to set automatic updates for RHEL 8 or CentOS 8 by searching the web either (it's quite early to find that for CentOS 8, of course).

Thank you for any assistance you may be able to provide! :)

Michela

You still got the problem? I´ve just searched for the package and found it (Centos Stream):

Code: Select all

~# yum search dnf-automatic
===========================================================================
dnf-automatic.noarch : Package manager - automated upgrades

Don't know from where the package comes, but i only got the following repos enabled:
(standard repos)
CentOS-AppStream.repo
CentOS-centosplus.repo
CentOS-Debuginfo.repo
CentOS-fasttrack.repo
CentOS-PowerTools.repo
CentOS-Vault.repo
CentOS-Base.repo
CentOS-CR.repo
CentOS-Extras.repo
CentOS-Media.repo
CentOS-Sources.repo
(epel for rhel/centos 8)
epel-playground.repo
epel-testing.repo
epel.repo
