Install freezes after selecting language

Bare metal installation on AMD A-10 (pre-Ryzen) desktop, using today's Stream 9 boot iso (verified). Graphical installer starts, I select English-US. The screen eventually goes black, the mouse pointer appears. That's it, nothing else ever happens; I can move the mouse around on the black screen all day. This is a known-working desktop, my daily work computer.

Any suggestions? I know Fedora fails on pre-Ryzen AMD processors (by neglect). Is Stream failing that way too now?
