New install of Centos 8 using AMD Ryzen 7

Post by murilloa » 2019/10/16 02:56:24

Hi there,
I'm trying to install Centos 8 using AMD Ryzen 7 but I'm getting a warning after installing the OS. The message says: WARNING: AMD Processor - this hardware has not undergone upstream testing, the CentOS doesn't load. Could you please advise if Centos 8 and Ryzen 7 aren't compatible?
Thanks.

I am using a Ryzen 3, get the same warnings every boot but everything works fine. Just ignore it.

If you look at the list of certified hardware components by Red Hat you won't find any specific mainboards or CPUs.

If it doesn't load then you have something else wrong. That unsupported message is just information and can be ignored.

HI,
I have the same phenomenon here:
Warning: Intel CPU model - this hardware has not undergone upstream testing.
I understand that it refers to the certification list of Red Hat, nevertheless I have two questions:
1) The message says
Please consult http://wiki.centos.org/FAQ for more information.
But I cannot find any related information there. What's the point of the clue?
2) Can the message be suppressed somehow? In my understanding, boot messages should be relevant or omitted. In this case, it is not even clear, what "warning" means. Warning about what?

The main point is that it cannot point to the Redhat URL that the RHEL version does as it's their branding etc.
Can the message be suppressed somehow?
Append unsupported_hardware to the kernel command line (possibly unsupported_hardware=1)
