May I ask how to do this, just like you do?

www.lmgtfy.com is the front end website that creates the animated graphic.

using the site:centos.org "search term" is a built in feature of Google that limits the results to just the "site" that you specify.

As to a gui front end for samba - look at webmin, it has a good samba module.

Either the site search shown earlier, or a forum search using the bar at the top of the page should have turned up posts such as this one explaining the background, and suggesting alternatives. If you really want system-config-samba then try rebuilding a Fedora SRPM.

Because google passed me to another post which passed me to this post and I followed the links provided I got the GUI installed on CentOS 6.2 and figured I would share. Instructions are below.

Note: I did all the SRPM Rebuilding as a unprivileged user (regular login) to avoid messing things up, which is what the CentOS Wiki says to do with good reason.

Installed Samba + All Dependencies required to rebuild Source RPM's:
sudo yum install samba rpm-build redhat-rpm-config gcc make python-devel gettext intltool
Then I Setup the Environment for Source RPM Building:
mkdir -p ~/rpmbuild/{BUILD,RPMS,SOURCES,SPECS,SRPMS}
echo '%_topdir %(echo $HOME)/rpmbuild' > ~/.rpmmacros
Then I fetched the Source RPM's from the Fedora 14 Source RPM Archive:
cd /tmp/
wget http://archives.fedoraproject.org/pub/archive/fedora/linux/releases/14/Everything/source/SRPMS/system-config-samba-1.2.90-1.fc14.src.rpm
wget http://archives.fedoraproject.org/pub/archive/fedora/linux/releases/14/Everything/source/SRPMS/system-config-samba-docs-1.0.9-1.fc14.src.rpm
Then I built each one:
rpmbuild --rebuild /tmp/system-config-samba-1.2.90-1.fc14.src.rpm
rpmbuild --rebuild /tmp/system-config-samba-docs-1.0.9-1.fc14.src.rpm
Which then I installed them together since they are dependent upon each other:
cd ~/rpmbuild/RPMS/noarch/
sudo rpm -Uvh system-config-samba-1.2.90-1.el6.noarch.rpm system-config-samba-docs-1.0.9-1.el6.noarch.rpm
Which from the System > Administration > Samba link yielded:

I hope this helps people who are looking to do this, the downside of this is that should you want to update the Samba GUI you need to again, go find the SRPM, rebuild and then update.
