Network manager icon is not coming in panel

Dear Users,
i am using Centos-6.5 and after updating my laptop's network icon is not appearing on to the panel but wired lan is connecting automatically. Network icon is coming only when i am typing in the root.
sudo nm-applet
Tell me any suggestion ?
Also it is showing after the command -----
service NetworkManager status
NetworkManager (pid 1747) is running...

The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.
Info for USB installs on http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/InstallFromUSBkey
CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
