cant connect to server from internet

Hi, i am new to Linux and servers, i just installed CentOS 6.5, as a desktop it looks nice, im having an issue with connecting to it http, ftp, ssh, telnet from my other pc, all conections get refused, i can surf with firefox from it, its online and i can ping the server from my pc, but cant seem to open it up to the world, i am not a linux guru by any means, is there someone who can help?

Run system-config-firewall and open the ports for the services you are trying to provide.

Hi, thanks for reply, i think i have done that, i had to allow ftp, ssh, smpt, http, after i did that i was able to access the server when it was plugged into my router on the home network, but once its on the modem without going through the router i cant access it again, i can surf with firefox so it is conected t the internet, ip is 174.3.56.167 but i still cant get in it

Some modem work as router,
your may need check modem setting by access http://192.168.1.1,
found NAT Settings then set DMZ host to lan ip of the server machine.

No, a consumer DMZ settings mean you have ZERO protection between your server and the entire Internet.

Personally, I'd get a REAL firewall (IPCOP, PFSENSE, etc) and not some consumer router if you're going to make your box available to the public internet.

Hi, thanks for your replies and sorry to have waisted anyones time...i found my problem...the router and the server were pulling the same ip for some reason...i removed the router and the server was online...was not a CentOS issue
