VMWare and 2 NIC's

Post by pytagoras » 2014/08/07 07:14:16

Hello

I have configured VMware Workstation 10 with 2 Nic's .
One for external connection with NAT and the second for internal connection (Custom VMnet 0) .

After installing Version 7.0 only the first card is visible and working .
The second card is not detected bij Centos .

There's no problem with centos 6.5 (both card are seen and working )

What can i do ?

Thanks

Are both cards the same device type?
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.

There is only one card installed in the machine and i am using VM Workstation to emulate 2 card's . So i think there are identical .
1 card is supposed to be the gateway to Internet and the other one is used to make a intern (logical) network .

Thanks

VMWare can emulate many different types of network cards. You'd need to check that you used the same type for both. It doesn't matter what the physical hardware is in a VM - the guest doesn't get to see it so it doesn't care.

Vmware emulation of cards is possible in ESX and ESXI but in didn't found this feature in Vmware Workstation 10 .

I used the default settings and i don't think he will chose two different type's of emulated nic's .

If the Nic are really the problem than i can't use Centos 7.0 as a virtual machine on Vmware Workstation.

Greetings
