You're already running 7.1 - 3.10.0-229.14.1 is a 7.1 kernel.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.
Info for USB installs on http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/InstallFromUSBkey
CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.

My only suggestion otherwise would be to try it on x86_64 and see if the same thing occurs then. That would narrow it down to a difference in the build, especially if you ran the 32 bit firefox on a 64 bit system.

I can't at the moment, as I have no x86_64 installed. I think i'm going to wait for the next update of FF and see if the issue remains .

All I can say is that in my graphical VM, I can not duplicate the issue with firefox. I can browse fine.

I know that is not much help.

We have released an experimental repo for c7-i386 and it has a newer (4.2.0) kernel.

It was in effect about the first kernel. I updated to the experimental one and now all works fine.
