CentOS 6.8 end of life

Post by gavli » 2017/05/10 08:49:21

Hi, who know the end of life for the CentOS 6.8 ?
CentOS community announced the new release of CentOS 6.9 on 5 April, 2017 and the centOS 6.8 have stopped the updates on 20 May,2017.
Might we conclude that the end of life for CentOS 6.8 is on 20 May,2017 ?

All CentOS point releases cease support as soon as the new point release is released. If you "yum update" you will always get to the latest point release plus all subsequent patches.

CentOS 6 itself goes EOL in 2020. Each point release is unsupported as soon as the replacement is released - effectively the new point release _is_ the update for the older one.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.
