Configure Centos 7 Cluster using Synology DS1817

Post by Benindo » 2017/12/05 16:54:17

Hi Folks,
I intend to setup centos 7 cluster using 2 identical IBM x3650 servers, and I am planning to use Synology NAS DS1817 as a shared storage.
My question is does Centos 7 Clustering support Synology DS1817 as a shared storage??.
Is there any Centos document to check if DS1817 is indeed supported as a shared storage for centos 7 cluster.

Thank you,
Benindo

If multipath daemon sees the LUNs - you are good to go.

Hi Hunter,
Yes, I should be able to see the LUN at at Synology DS1817 as it support iSCSI target.
I want to configure the cluster this way: 2 nodes IBM x3650 Centos 7 (Active/Passive) and 2x Synology DS1817 (Active/Passive,configured with Its Synology High Availability software).
So, in this configuration, I use the Synology disk as the heartbeat for the centos cluster nodes to determine node failure, as well as shared storage for my Apache & SQL server.
Is it workable this setup???

If I u derstood you right, you have storage based replication and 2+ cluster. Then you should be using 2 'poison pill' devices /one from each storage without replication/ (used by sbd service) which will be represented to both nodes.
Maximum allowed sbd devices s 3.
So, consider creating iscsi target on a server away from both DCs and export a third sbd device.
In such case , loosing 1 of the storages or the iscsi outside the DCs - the cluster will be always working.
