Wireless Network activation

Post by rioz » 2017/12/12 04:11:06

Hi,

I got an old Wireless Adapter below but I can't find any information to activate/enable it. Does anyone can help?

03:02.0 Ethernet controller: Qualcomm Atheros AR5212/5213/2414 Wireless Network Adapter (rev 01)

Thanks,
rioz

No such device shown. I need to install the module/driver of the wireless adapter however it is too old to find out. Do you have any idea how to install the correct module/driver?

Post the output from lspci -nn | grep -i wireless if it's a PCI device or from lsusb if it's USB. We need to see the vendor and device ids.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

There doesn't seem to be a driver for that included in the CentOS kernel. If I check on CentOS 6 then the PCI vendor/device id is listed as supported by the ath5k kernel module but this is no longer shipped in CentOS 7. I did ask the ELRepo guys if they could build a kmod-ath5k but they said that it was dropped from the RH kernel as it no longer builds on the CentOS 7 kernel.

Given how cheap they are I suspect it's time for a new one, sorry.

Thanks for your reply. As suggested, I bought another USB wifi adapter below. Do you know how I can install it?

Unfortunately you seem to have bought another one that has no built-in driver. That one apparently uses rtl8192eu but I don't find that module anywhere. You could try asking ELRepo if they are able to build for it.
