CentOS Team,
First off, first post here, great product, LOVE IT. Keep up the good work.
My question today surrounds the claim that CentOS is functionally on pace with RHEL, however, I have found a pretty big discrpency that I was hoping you could address.
When I run: strings /usr/lib64/libstdc++.so.6 | grep GLIBC; I get a range of what appears to be GLIBC libaries (don't quot me on that) with the latest being 3.4.13:
GLIBCXX_3.4.13
However, when you look at the same command on RHEL going back to as far as FEDORA 20, you will see that they have libraries up to 3.4.23(ish) and maybe higher.
Why is there such a gap and is there a plan to bring CentOS more in line with RHEL in this respect?
**I was trying to install HANA Express 2 on CentOS 7 and it would not compile because of this missing library**
Thanks!

Re: Problem with install of HANA on CentOS 7
Fedora is not RHEL. RHEL 7 was loosely based on what was Fedora 18/19 but that's as far as it goes. CentOS 7 is a rebuild of RHEL 7. CentOS 6 is a rebuild of RHEL 6. Fedora is something else entirely.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

Thanks, Trevor. Is there a way I can install the glibc libraries up to 3.4.22 without breaking the machine?
Re: Problem with install of HANA on CentOS 7
No. You need to look at fixing the application not the system. Or change distro.

Ok, thank you. I am meeting some SAP HANA folks on Friday. I will ask them if they plan to support more distros.
I was able to get it running on a different distro.
Thank you.
