after recent update, black screen-- i am a newbie

after updating to 3.10.0-693.11.1.el7.x86_64, black screen has come. stopping at [ok]started NFS server daemon, no expression.

then without booting, i can't use my PC at all. any advice for this problem???

If you are using the propriety Nvidia driver, then you need recompile the driver for the new kernel.

One way to do this is if you can connect to the PC from the outside (ssh), reboot to non-graphical mode by

systemctl set-default multi-user.target
reboot

Then use the .run file from Nvidia to uninstall the previous compiled driver, and install again.


To get back to graphics mode

systemctl set-default graphical.target
reboot

as you said, i reinstalled NVIDIA driver.
after that, reboot and come back clean booting screen .
