Greetings all - i have a virtual server and im trying to tunnel xwindows down to my local PC.
i have installed xwindows via yum (yum install @kde, yum groupinstall "Fonts") when i do something like xeyes the tunneling working just fine and i see it (same for xclock) however if i try and run a generic "startx" i get the following output:
ksmserver(2240)/kdeui (KNotification) KNotification::slotReceivedIdError: Error while contacting notify daemon "Did not receive a reply. Possible causes include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection was broken."
and it just hangs. I am not really sure what is wrong, and nothing in the logs indicates what is happening. Any idea?
Unable to start kde
Re: Unable to start kde
You don't run startx via ssh, it's for local sessions only.
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.
