I created a USB stick to install CentOs (CentOS-7-x86_64-DVD-1804.iso) on a Surface Notebook.
The installation from the USB stick starts up normally, and on the first "screen" i can use the 'up' and 'down' keys to select the 'install CentOS' item.
But on the first graphical Centos screen, selection of language, the keyboard doesn't work anymore; neither does it work in any of the other pages.
However, i can move the mouse pointer and perform clicks with the touchpad.
Is there a way to fix this problem?
(EDIT: corrected typo in the subject)
no keyboard when installing centos 7 from USB
no keyboard when installing centos 7 from USB

How did you make the memory stick? Some methods doesn't work.

Re: no keyboard when installing centos 7 from USB
I downloaded the iso to my gentoo machine and used
where /dev/sde refers to my USB stick (i think it is USB-3, because parts of the plug are colored blue)
Code: Select all
dd -if=CentOS-7-x86_64-DVD-1804.iso of=/dev/sde bs=1M
Re: no keyboard when installing centos 7 from USB
Does it have a BIOS you can get into? Does it help to disable USB3 in there if so? Does it have a legacy USB option?
The future appears to be RHEL or Debian. I think I'm going Debian.

CentOS 5 and 6 are deadest, do not use them.

It has a UEFI screen you can enter at boot time, but not a 'normal' BIOS.
However, i can't go there at the moment - for some reason something called BitLocker wants a recovery key but i haven't got one...
I'll try to restore the notebook to factory settings and then check for USB3 disabling or legacy USB.,
